Preschoolers eat mostly in front of TVs
Cathy Macpherson, public health dietitian, told Elgin St. Thomas Public Health board at its January meeting that three-quarters of local children 3 to 5 years old ate meals in front of the television most of the time, and were already spending more than two hours a day watching a TV or computer screen.
One in 10, was eating fast food more than two days a week as well.
“It’s shocking,” said St. Thomas Mayor Heather Jackson, board chairman.
“When you’re eating in front of the TV…,” Ms. Macpherson said.
